Joseph D. Foltz joined Basham & Scott, LLC in 2018 and is currently the Lead Attorney at the firm. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Maine and Juris Doctorate from the University of Maine School of Law, graduating with Cum Laude honors at both schools. While at Maine Law, Joe was a Case Note & Comment Editor for the Ocean & Coastal Law Journal and had his Comment titled “American Lobster Claws Threatened by EU Invasive Species Laws: How the EU Invasive Species Act Applies Non-Uniformly to Aquatic Species” published in the 23rd Edition of the Ocean & Coastal Law Journal. Joe has been admitted to the Maine Bar since 2018.
 
While at Basham & Scott, Joe has specialized in subrogation cases representing major insurance carriers and national rental car companies. He has expertise in handling high volume subrogation cases for clients and identifying recovery potential for his client’s cases. Joe is an active member of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP) and the Maine State Bar Association (MSBA). Joe co-presented a CLE presentation titled “Whose Shoes Are You Wearing? The Ins and Outs of Subrogation” at the 2022 Maine Summer Bar Conference. Outside of work, Joe enjoys spending time in the wonderful Maine outdoors by hiking, golfing, and going to the beach with his friends and family.
